I’m so excited you found my homeschool blog among the multitudes online!
Hi! I’m Kristen, mom of two, wife of one in New York state. In my past life, I worked as a receptionist, secretary, office manager, administrative assistant, and everything in between, but what I have always wanted in my heart of hearts was to become a stay at home wife and mother and homeschool my children. (The big pull for me was the idea of teaching my children about the pyramids and then going there without worrying about them missing classes, as well as catering to their unique needs and learning levels which is nearly impossible within the public school system.)
Ironically, I first went to college to become a teacher but switched majors so I wouldn’t need to write lesson plans – yet, when I started homeschooling, I realized that I preferred the idea of making my own lessons, doing unit studies and passion directed learning, over following a set curriculum. I should probably explore what that means and put my psychology degrees to good use, but I’d rather focus on my kids and their needs 😉.
After the birth of my daughter, I was blessed to be able to transition to stay home, and I started a virtual assistant business which I still do today. I plan to use this site to share homeschooling wins, failures, and lessons learned along the way. You can read about our homeschool adventures and experiences, as well as reviews of homeschool-related things. Plus, I’ll be making digital resources for use in our homeschool and plan to share some of them with you too!
