The leaves are changing colors and falling from the trees, and sweater weather is nearly here! Every morning, I get to enjoy my pumpkin spice coffee (yeah, I’m that girl) and think about going apple picking, getting pumpkins to decorate, and trying to quell the desire to put up our Christmas tree super early.

One way we hold off on Christmas is taking time to celebrate fall holidays, and one of my favorite things to do is check out the resources, crafts, and activities online that I can do with my kids. In case this is something you find interesting too, here’s a compilation of links to resources that you may be able to use too. Make sure to click the links – there are a bunch that lead to other compilation blog posts so you can find even more ideas!

Fall Resources

Fall in Love with Learning: 20 Autumn Crafts for Kids! – Kimberli at Spunk and Tenacity found a bunch of adorable crafts to do with your kids. I especially love the Autumn Pumpkin Pom Pom Craft, Fall Leaf Butterflies, and the Origami Maple Leaves. And be sure to read to the bottom for interactive learning ideas!

Fall Resources from How to Homeschool My Child

Fall Centerpieces with Candy Corn – This is a super cute craft from Kerry at How to Homeschool My Child. Whether you’re team Eat the Candy Corn, or team Candy Corn is Gross, this activity will be a fun addition to your table. Just make sure to grab an extra bag of candies if you enjoy eating them since they’ll be extra tempting while on display.

Fall Apple Picking Learning Packet – A great way to incorporate math and letter tracing with a fun fall activity. I’m a big fan of all Kelly does at Hope in the Chaos, and this is no exception. Plus, you’ll love the included apple butter recipe!

Fall Homeschool Fun: 10 Hands-on Activities to Embrace the Season – One of the most fun parts of homeschooling is just the fact that you can take the time to do so much learning hands-on. Along with several other ideas, Abby from Homeschool with Moxie’s list of fall resources includes a Harvest Sensory Bin (with plenty of fillings), Fall Nature Journaling (with a ton of elements you can include – many that were new ideas for me), and Fall Storytelling (with some books to use to get into the fall mood).

Halloween Resources

Rabbit Trails through Halloween (paid) – I absolutely love the premise of Christine’s Rabbit Trails through Literature curriculums. She uses books to create unit studies with “rabbit trails” into science, social studies, and more. We’re currently using the preschool curriculum and it’s been a lot of fun. Rabbit Trails through Halloween is a 1-2 week unit study for elementary age students that you can do individually or as a family.

20+ Ideas for Halloween Science – Kristin from Kristin Moon Science did a great job collecting ideas for science activities around Halloween. Considering Halloween is probably my least favorite holiday, I’d much rather direct you to someone else as your guide. She shares ideas for science with candy, dry ice, pumpkins, and more, just in time for the spookiest time of year.

31 Most Popular Halloween Kids Books – I’ve actually read some of these, but I definitely wouldn’t have been able to find so many to make a list. Maybe next year Miss Michelle will have some Halloween recommendations, but I’m happy to share The Brilliant Homeschool’s recommendations in the meantime. I should probably get Room on the Broom considering it’s recommended here and also the basis of the Rabbit Trails through Halloween curriculum above!

Fun and Easy Halloween Coloring Pages for Toddlers – Although these say they’re for toddlers, they’d also be great for preschoolers and any kids that just want to relax and color. Richie from Homeschool and Humor (and Homeschool Mom Summits) just finished up her Fall Into Learning Summit, but she hosts several each year for homeschool moms. They’re filled with great speakers and ideas, and I always get a VIP pass. Make sure you sign up for her list (or mine!) to learn about upcoming summits!

Thanksgiving Resources

Fall Resources from Happy Hive Homeschooling

Gratitude Activity Pack (paid) – From one of my favorite homeschool creators, this gratitude activity pack is filled with some great ideas to focus on thankfulness. There’s a fortune teller, guide to create acrostic poetry, a gratitude scavenger hunt, and copywork, amongst other printables. Christy at Happy Hive Homeschooling, or Mrs. Crabtree, as my daughter calls her, compiled a fun resource at a great price.

History of Thanksgiving Coloring and Tracing Pack – Katie at The Wolfe Pack has a ton of free and paid resources, and we’ve loved every single one we’ve gotten. This pack is filled with fun pictures for your younger kids to color, along with vocabulary words to trace, such as Mayflower, pilgrims, Squanto, Thanksgiving, and more.

Thanksgiving Unit Study Resources & Printables for Homeschooling Families – If you’re interested in studying Thanksgiving in your homeschool, Jenn at Whole Child Homeschool compiled a ton of resources so you can pick and choose (or just be inspired) to make your own unit study! She includes Language Arts, Writing, History, STEAM, and more. I personally didn’t even realize there were songs for Thanksgiving, but she found several.

Thanksgiving Music Lesson with Thanksgiving Printable Set – Speaking of Thanksgiving music, here’s a free short music lesson from Gena at Music in our Homeschool. Although the focus is music, she shares ideas to expand the lesson with drawing and some critical thinking. Plus, if you scroll to the bottom, you’ll find even more Thanksgiving resources.

Are you inspired by these fall resources?

I hope these fall resources inspire you this season and help you hold off on starting to celebrate Christmas too early. I’m looking forward to incorporating a bunch of crafts and a Thanksgiving unit study into our homeschool this season, and I’m excited that there are so many new activities we can try. K will absolutely love the new crafts and copywork, and there’s even some that O will be able to do as a toddler!
